Lavezzi 40: Water Level Issue in Toilet Bowls

Some time ago I noticed that when i have finished producing enough water with my watermaker (ie close to 450 liters of fresh water in the tanks), that the water level inside the toilet bowls (both hulls, this Lavezzi is the owners version) come too high (i have Jabsco toilet bowls with electric marcerator pump). So, i am thinking: somewhere a retention valve is broken. Anybody has had the same issue? How to resolve, and moreover, where (if any) are those valves located?
Misteriously, closing the seacock/saltwater inlet valve totally doesnt realy stop this issue from taking place.

You have raised your water line when you fill the fresh water tanks, ie higher displacement.

So now the question arises, how do I prevent seawater being pushed back in because of the increased desplacement?

At most, your waterline will change 1" with the weight of the freshwater you are adding. That 1" is enough to over-fill your toilet?

If you close the seacock, I don't see how any water at all could still be coming into the system unless it is coming in from the discharge side.

If it is coming from the discharge side, check to make sure you have a vented loop in the discharge and that the vent is working. Also check the joker valve for something caught in it or just plain wear/stiffness.

Guess I've been using a composting toilet too long but doesn't your head have a switch for pumping it dry? Leave switch in that position after flushing

We do this and still have some water in the toilet when we check later. Hence my interest in this thread.

It would seem to me replacing that valve or re-building it would be the answer. If that doesn't work you either don't have an anti siphon on the outlet side or its clogged. Just reread your original post if you close off intake seacock and water is still coming in it has to be coming in the outlet. I know a lot of people that close both seacocks every time they're done using the head

If his brine discharge was out the same seacock as his toilets draw water from it's possible water may be backing up into the toilet if the thru hull was partially blocked?
Otherwise I just can't see how the toilets have anything to do with the fresh water system?

I wonder whether the watermaking function leaves your batteries a little flat. If so then the pump on the toilet sometimes cannot draw enough power to pump the bowl dry. does your music cut out when you try to pump the toilet in this circumstance? This si a good guide to not enough battery.

When you run your engine/generator can you then easily pump out?

I had a similar issue on my Lavezzi when I changed my heads from manual Jabscos to electric TMCs.
The Stb one was fine but the port water level kept getting very close to the rim.
Anyway I installed an anti siphon valve in the port one and it is fine now.
It sounds like you may be getting some feed back in the system.

The little fitting on the vent in vented loops often goes bad. It is a spring loaded little thingy that can lose its springiness or simply get clogged. Not an expensive piece but good to replace every now and then to avoid just this kind of problem
