Traveller car & control ends

I need to replace the main sheet traveller car and the two control ends on my Belize 43 (2005)

The originals are made by Goiot

Can anyone help?

Regards,

Bill

Re: Traveller car & control ends

Bill,

I have dreaded the day that I will need to replace mine because of the severe corrosion on the bolts holding the end pieces to the track. A number of years ago I tried to remove them but couldn't budge the hex key screws. I'm hoping my traveler lasts until I sell the boat as I foresee drilling out a number of SS bolts.

What type of help are you seeking?

Bill,

If you need to replace that much you might as well just replace the whole thing. The track itself (which sounds like the only thing that's reusable) is probably less than 5% of the total cost.

Bite the bullet and replace it with a Harken traveller.

Re: Traveller car & control ends

I am looking for a replacement main sheet traveller car and the two pulley end stops.
I have removed the car (and lost all the balls which all had flats on them and needed to be replaced) pressed all the pins out and cleaned it all up so should get a few more years out of it, not so good with the end stops as the track locating screw hole has elongated a fair bit so still thinking about that one.
I will put it all back together and then tie a knot in the traveller positioning sheet so that the car can never go full length on a jibe and slam into the end stops.
Mine was badly corroded up and I used a new product from a German company - Henkel called freeze & release - good stuff, I can highly recommend it.
But as I said earlier I would like to find out if anyone has replacement parts.
Cheers,
Bill

Re: Traveller car & control ends

Hi Bill,

Have you tried McIntyre Marine Products - Goiot Yacht Equipment
They are the Oz distributors and are quite helpful.
Harken would nice but you would want to check that the pitch of the mounting holes to see if they match.

regards
DL

Re: Traveller car & control ends

Hi DL,
Thank you, I did try them but unfortunately they have sold all of the old Doiot deck gear.
What I have done is pull apart the car & end stops and removed & serviced the pulleys and pins, and I have ordered some new balls for the car & new main sheet pulleys.
This should give me a few more years, the other thing I will do is tie off the traveler sheets so that the car can never hit the end stops as this is what causes most of the wear in the first instance.
Thanks & best regards,
Bill

No worries Bill,

I'd better have a look at mine and give it a service to get the most out of it.
