Searching for a Mahé 36

As you may know from earlier posts we are about to change from a monohull (Etap 34s) to a catamaran. While searching the internet I got interested in the Mahé 36. Two weeks ago we drove 1200 kms and back to finally see one in real life, this one: 2009 Fountaine Pajot MAHE 36 Zeil Boot te koop - nl.yachtworld.com
We really liked the boat and think it is the right type for us, but not this one. It looked ok but it is far too expensive considering its relatively basic equipment.
We like the original version (2006-2009), not the later Evolution.

So the question is: can you help us with the search for our ideal Mahé. Of course we already found the ones in Yachtwold.com and the other big internetsites but maybe you know one that has escaped our attention.
Or, why not, you decide to sell your own Mahé because you already wanted a bigger one for a long time… I would for example buy the Catatude from Cotamar without hesitation, although he would first have to bring it to Rotterdam or at least Europe (how about Land’s End?), and we would have to negotiate heavily about the price

Unfortunately for you I think Catatude is sold.

Cotemar did a wonderful job which he selflessly shared with all of us and saved me lots of time and still does with the Orana.

Cotemar sold Catatude (Mahe36) in August of 2015.
Catatude is now in the Chesapeake.
I believe they are purchasing a 2016 Helia 44 Evolution for next season.

I have one for sale (2007) but it is even further from the Netherlands - Australia!

Curious why you prefer the earlier version over the Evolution.

Re: Searching for a Mahé 36

I'm sure the Evolution version is also a good boat but I don't like rigid bimini with helmsman position in one piece.
I don't mind a rigid bimini, I love for example what Cotamar has done to his bimini, but I want the helmsmans seat to be seperated.
And I don't like the black couch in the saloon, I prefer the white or grey of the original version.
But it should sail equally well!

You will likely find at least one or two with the brokers in Le Marin or at Point a Pitre.

Re: Searching for a Mahé 36

Thanks for the tip!
In Point a Pitre I found: Alizé Yacht Brokers, Caribe Yachts and Poncin Yacht. Neither of them has a Mahé for sale

In Le Marin I found: A&C Yacht brokers and Neo Marine. This last one has a Mahé for sale, that is also on Yachtworld (2009 Fountaine Pajot MAHE 36 Zeil Boot te koop - nl.yachtworld.com).

Le Marin is very far away for me, but this boat seems to be in La Rochelle.
It looks interesting, I sent them an email 2 day ago but got no response yet.
Busy with Christmas preparations maybe. We’ll see.

You are new to Med style thinking (Greece, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal) - you mostly get nowhere emailing anybody. Get the broker by the balls - call them up - they are all about talking and personal interaction, leave the cool and septic world of electronic written word to the Norse.

Cheers,

Re: Searching for a Mahé 36

Aha! So that's how it works! What was I thinking???

The contactperson is a "she", so I don't know if I can get her by the balls, but I can certainly give her a call!

Thanks for the lesson

A female French yacht broker??? Marry, immediately. Then the balls thing may get reversed and you may end up with a boat of your dreams at half the price!

Good luck hunting, have fun buying,

Hah!
I met two french female brokers / dealers when shopping for our current boat. Both were quite nice to look at

The first one was tough to deal with to say the least and wasn't shy to send people 7 year old pics of what I would call a floating wreck.
The other lady had some dubious business approach.

Both had a sharp tongue for sure and a strong sense for earning money. Both happened to be Lagoon dealers.

The later one seems to have lost her dealership status in the meantime (maybe others filed complaints as well).

So that's how it works! I am learning fast.
I'll discuss it with my wife

Anyway, the female broker has just sent me an email, so maybe we just do it the old fashioned way. Sounds boring but, by Rabbi’s experience, it can also be exiting (sort of…). We’ll see what this one is made of.
She’s no Lagoon dealer, maybe that helps…

I’ll keep you informed.

There is one in our marina in Marmaris. Send a PM if you are interested, she is in very good shape.
