Jay,

I am glad you can remove the Mahe rudder when in the water. I new the foam core would hold it up in place, but using the weight of an anchor makes since and is a great idea.

Have you replaced rudder bearings this way?

Does anyone have contact information on a US supplier of JP3 bearings Ive sent several emails to JP3 in france with no reply.

I contacted David Loughborough about rudder bearings but in his search for which ones fit the Mahe he hasn't found our The Mahe on his list does anyone have a part number or size number for our jp3 bearings or any idea of how to get one. Ive tried several emails and calls to fountaine pajot without much help and I dont have any contact info on us dealers.

Good news i got responses from both fountaine pajot and ps3 usa with pricing on the bearings. Suprising to me was that fountaine pajot sells the bearings for less than half of what usa sells them for. Aprox. $200 us dollars for the psir vs over $200 for each individually plus shipping and Vat

I had the same, no growth on the hull but full of small barnacles inside the tube that jammed the rudder. Had to take it out and clean up, no need to do anything with the bearings.

WHERE exactly is the quadrant located on the Mahe? I've been all over both engine rooms and can't find it.

You do not have a quadrant on a Mahe 36. You have tiller arms connected to the rudder post in front of both of your engines.

Understood. What I don't see is how the helm is connected to the tiller arms, unless it's on the starboard engine side. I had the helm 'teleflex' unit replaced in Tortola due to what I thought was excessive play (about a quarter helm turn), but the play is still there. I did see some nylon bearings where the tiller arms are joined (via nut/bolt) to a bar between them (so both rudders turn at once) which could be replaced or bolstered to minimize play there, but was hoping for another adjustment that could minimize play.

The helm ”Teleflex” cable is connected to the tiller arm in the Starboard engine room.
In these pictures it’s the cable and bar just below the large rudder tube that connects both rudders together.
