Rig tuning

We made the change recently from a monohull to our FP Lipari. Having grown up in monohulls, I am in need of some advice on tuning the rig. Forget all the comments on sail trim, how do we set up the rig? How different is it from a monohull if at all...thanks

Re: Rig tuning

I wish I had good answers for you. In short, it needs to be not as tight as on a mono. My rig is currently too tight and is causing cabinet fit problems. Mine is due for a new rig, so it will all get fixed this fall.

Be careful who you have tune your rig. The rigger in the west palm area that inspected my rig said it was probably too loose. But, other FP owners have commented on how loose their leeward shroud is on a reach. Mine never gets loose. You can tell it's not as tight, but it's never loose. Laurent at Just Cats told me if I have cabinet fit problems, the rig is always too tight. I tend to believe the guys who do nothing but work on cruising cats over the rigger who replaced the standing rig on a privilege cat once a few years ago.

You might also try the guys at US Spars. They have all the "as built" specs from Z Spar. I assume they have tension specs as well.
