How to repair leaking hatches?

We've traced a leak back to the deck hatch in the ceiling of the aft-starboard head. By spray testing, we can see water leaking in between the inside aluminum ring and the grp (see video).

I figured we could fix this by removing the hatch, cleaning it up and re-installing with new sealant. However, it is not obvious how to remove the hatch. There are no screws so it looks like it is just sealed in place.

Does anyone have experience with fixing hatch leaks on the Orana (or similar FP boats) or how to remove and replace the hatches?

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Ted

Re: How to repair leaking hatches?

From the Goiot web site:

"Easy and fast mounting

The assembly is done by simple bonding, which definitely reduces labour time for shipyards. We recommend to use a polyurethane compound i.e. Sikaflex 92. "

So yes, glued on with no screws.

Good luck

Smile Re: How to repair leaking hatches?

Unlike most boat jobs this one turned out to be easier than expected . We compared the leaking hatch to the other hatches and noticed that the holes under the hinge were unsealed (initially hard to see with the dirt). We cleaned these out and sealed with a non-adhesive sealant and then gave it a hard spray test after the sealant had cured. No more leaking! Photos attached.
