Overzoom

I've been using Opencpn for a long time.
I have made my own charts - georeferencing using my own process.
So, I have thousands of charts.

I have just upgraded to version 5 and so I will probably start using MBTiles in the future as they are way easier to create.

However, I seem to get the Overzoom message a lot - even when they aren't overzoomed.
Is it possible to suppress the Overzoom message or maybe set something in the MBTiles formats that won't show Overzoom or maybe I've got something wrong.

I would say I have never seen an incorrectly displayed overzoom warning on MBTiles tilesets that were created using common sense. Hard to say if what you see is a bug, misconfiguration or bad quality tilesets without seeing those tilesets.

Re: Overzoom

Do you have a hidpi screen ?

On my laptop (Dell XPS 13 with a hidpi screen) I also see this overzoom indicator way too early, the reason probably being that the physical dimension is not taken into account, only the size in pixels.

Re: Overzoom

Another XPS13 HDPI.

With S57 charts I'm getting an over zoom alert at 4x scale.
For example at 1:11900 for a 1:45000 chart.

What seems prudent and correct for me.

Re: Overzoom

My screen is a standard 1K screen (1920 x 1080)
I created the MBTiles using SASPlanet
Scales (Zooms) were z9 - z13 - z15 - z17
These scales seem to give me a good range of quilts (if thats the correct terminology)

Overzoom indicator is correct for vector charts (cm93 or oesenc here). Even kap charts seem ok. The issue is specific to mbtiles.

Re: Overzoom

In order to better illustrate the problem, here are two screenshots: one from my Dell XPS hidpi screen (about 30cm x 17cm physical), and the other from my desktop (51x31cm physical).

You will notice the "overzoom" indicator on the hidpi screen, but not on the other one. Both are displaying more or less the same zoom level, the physical size of the harbour in the middle of the screen is about 3cm wide x 4cm tall.
