I did some more testing on 1004 before compiling 1007.
To me it seems as the crashes comes when the last tidal station before closing OpenCPN, was one of those I corrected to Utf -8.

Ubuntu packages now available for 1007.

Thank you for the testing, I'm not surprised by the result!
Yes it would be good for OpenCPN, if we could provide an rpm for the latest stable Fedora, both for stable and beta releases. Either stick them in the wiki's download page yourself or I can help out.

Build Service

Perhaps we could employ a build service: https://build.opensuse.org/ to automatically build all the architectures and major distributions.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Quote:
The openSUSE Build Service provides software developers with a convenient and easy to use tool to create and release open source software for openSUSE and other Linux distributions like Ubuntu, Fedora, Mandriva and Debian on different hardware architectures and for a broad user audience.

Isolated danger? Not quite....

Found this while checking the latest beta for tidal station errors.

It's the result of WRECKS02 symbolization procedure - piece of a bit complicated code for which at least I lack the corresponding documentation (part of IHO presentation library, which is not publicly available). On my list to check in the future.

AIS error and Look Ahead Mode problem (life tests at sea yesterday)

see attached jpegs

AIS Rollover data shows ship as *moored* while it actually goes over 7 kts.
This message was persistent over a longer period (30 minutes at least) and was observed by various other vessels as well.

Look Ahead Mode makes ship disappear from screen while the ship should stay in its designated position and the chart should move instead.

You have to have the Find/Follow Boat Button activated for this to happen. Your first picture shows clearly that this is not the case. When a button is activated it's slightly bigger.
I have just tested this with a simulator, and it works OK.

Since no one else has responded, I'll tell you what I think it is based on a recollection of an earlier post or two.

The "moored" and "under way" status is not calculated by the software. It is a status sent by AIS. It is not sent based on movement, but on a setting on Class A transceivers. (I don't think Class B sends this status at all.)

So, in your case, that was operator error on the part of the ship.

If I remember correctly, the original post was the other way around. A moored ship was showing as being under way.

I need Icons or screen shots of
AIS Basestations
AIS Navaids
for the documentation of the upcoming 2.2.
Is there anyone who has seen these? I suppose it's a European thing mainly, for now.

Hi,

sorry for the sort-of out of thread question, but I'm just having no joy with the Search tool.

I seem to recall that sometime about/before 2.1.0 that a check was added for reading BSB charts which later had to be backed out because there were too many buggy RNCs out there. I had thought it had to do with color palettes, but the problematic Swedish tmerc chart FrankW's been fighting with is down to a line number encoding error.

#3776 (Unreadable Swedish BSB file is readable with OpenCPN)

can anyone refresh my memory about that episode?

thanks,
Hamish

Good morning,

Thanks again for the very nice program and al your work.
I think I found two bugs in release 1007. I run the program on a XP machine. The first is the cursor position; it seems the decimal minute numbers are a factor 10 to small (picture 1). The second is about quilting with transverse mercator charts; quilting off the cursor position is good (accept about the first bug); quilting on gives a wrong position (see picture 2 and 3).

I hope this wil help to improve the great program.
