Hi Dave,
Thank you for this wonderful application, I have been looking for something like this!

So far, I have sucessfully built current cvs (using the gsocket workaround suggested above) on my archlinux x86_64 linux system, and the program starts fine.

Next goal is to find good maps - will buying c-map maps work, and if so, should I look for a specific version? (I need maps for inner Danish waters).

And then I can't wait to try it out, come april... :-)

Happy newyears to everyone here,
Anders

Try http://dacust.com/inlandwaters/index.html to see if there any charts you can use.

Thank you for helping , but so far I haven't found anything for Denmark (in Europe). I don't mind paying, if I get quality maps - although it would be nice with free ones. Unfortunately the danish state is not as nice in this respect as some.

I guess my question is if any of the available commercial charts will work with openCPN "out of the box", or at least with relative ease?

The CM_93 Ed 2 2009 charts available here work wiith OpenCPN and cover the World (including Denmark) I'm not sure if these C-Map charts cover all your rivers and lakes but quite good detail is available for the parts it does cover.
By the way, the downloading will take a few days, but be patient, its worth it.

Day/Night Colors non-vector charts

Hi Dave,

Using Win XP, I can't see that there is any change to BSB charts when toggling through the Day/Night Colors. Borders and Toolbar change however. The charts themselves are left as bright as usual.

Thumbs up Thanks to all the Developers & Testers!!!

As a software (former) developer myself, I know how many countless hours have gone into this effort so far. All of us cruisers here in Ecuador, getting ready to 'Puddle Jump' the Pacific, thank you!

If you all need help with documentation, holler.

I have been using OpenCPN as a backup navigation system. It worked fine along the California coast using the free NOAA S-57 charts. Now I need coverage for Central America and the Caribbean. It looks like my most reasonable option would be a C-Map MAX/PC NA-M027 Central American and Caribbean. It is formatted for use on PCs, covers the appropriate area, and is (I presume) CM93/3 format. Can anyone tell me if this will work with OpenCPN?

Sorry, OpenCPN does not work with C-Map. See Pete's post #397 above.

Is that known for a fact?

I tried with a 2002 c-map set (north atlantic) to test, and it worked to some degree (I did not test very throughly. Navigating in the charts was a bit laggy, but I do not know what to expect yet). Didn't cover my prime area though, so I removed the files again. They are not "Max" version though, but the older "nt" version is still available.

If you are interrested in testing the set, contact me by mail.

Minor Bug with the cm93 Detail slider

I observed the following bug

1) Use a CM93 chart at a very high resolution
2) Click on "Enable CM93 Detail Slider"
3) Move the silder all the way to the left ==> Details go away (this is OK)

Problems:

The chart now displays "OverZoom" and the detail cursor is no longer active. Removing the OverZoom condition and/or killing and re-enabling the slider does not help. Only solution is to go in Tools / Vector Charts and move the slider there.

Configuration: Windows 7
