OpenCPN on a Small LCD ?

What is the minimum useful/usable display size for opencpn?
Thinking about trying opencpn on a netbook but not sure how
small of an lcd is usable.

I was looking at the devel notes for windows on compilingopencpn. I am just wondering though if anyone has
compiled opencpn using mingw?

I used OpnCPN on a Toshiba netbook this fall for a few days. It worked fine. When I was cruising north or south the short aspect ratio in that direction was a little limiting, but not much- I am a north up kind of guy.

Try it, it works.

Small LCD

I have used at the helm with a 7" lcd touchscreen works ok but have to use a stylus to access some buttons as my fingers seem too large

Same 7" touchscreen used mostly as secondary display with planning etc at navstation, I am able to pan around a bit using the touchscreen funciton but the menu buttons are too small

physical screen and resolution

I appreciated the replies. What I think would be additional useful information is to specify the physical screen size
and the resolution 800 x 600 for example.

Also if anyone has set up opencpn on a screen and decided
it was too hard to use for reasons as given here, I would
definitely like to hear about it.

thanks

The screen resolution on my Toshiba netbook is 1024 x 600, which is typical of netbooks. Like I said in my earlier post, this worked fine for OpnCPN although a bit small vertically.

my 800x600 is 7 inch, would be hard to read if I would not be myopic.
so if you need to read your newspaper with the arms streched, 7 inch is to small for you
