Hakan,
see here: http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1866869

Gerhard

Meanwhile it was corrected in git:
Quote:
int steps = ceil(sqrt((float)r));

Gerhard.
Thanks for your reply, I'd missed that post.
And Dave.
Thanks for the correction in Github.
Now builds OK also in my ancient system.

I'm able to load charts from external, removeable sd card.

If your tablet is new, you can't get to your extSD from /mnt.... keep tapping the "top folder" in O-A's browsing tree, (it has "..") until you see the " /storage" folder. I find my removeable, external sd in "/storage" as sd1.

see
https://source.android.com/devices/storage/index.html
for the ahhhh-"explanation"
added: ^ paraphrased is to stop you from installing stuff on a removeable card but still allow you to "look" at stuff on it.

Selecting different standards do no fix the behavior of vanishing objects. The other objects fading out (in addition to the sector lights) is sections of a marked passage. Those with arrowheads stay visible everywhere, but those without dissappear when in the upper half of the screen. Portrait or landscape does not make any difference, it's always the upper half.

JP...
If you have a Linux machine you may sure try. So far I did not manage to succeed, but it was caused by total lack of time more than it not being possible.
Don't expect it to be even close to same simple and documented as the normal Linux build though.

Thanks, great tool... How new people can help ?

I've used OpenCPN intermittently for a year or so, want to say it's a great app!

I've been looking for a low power option to run O with high portability for some time. Was seriously considering building an R-Pi2 as an option until I saw this thread.

How can new people help out and contribute to this testing effort ?

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.705

For a beginner like me, it was possible to compile O on an android tablet in a Debian noroot environment, to get it compiled, installed and working perfectly, including receiving GPS from Android and AIS through android Bluetooth. All this with the help received from this forum.

To make the same on Android, I personally see others doing much better job than I ever could and will look forward for using the resulting native Android app with great enthusiasm.

It's probably possible to build even under windows or osx, but so far only linux has been used. As far as I know, only myself and Dave has succeeded in building the android apk for opencpn, but as he has taken over the task of android development (I have no actual android device so I was using the emulator) I have not tried to build it since January. It is not exactly easy or straightforward, requires about 5 gigabytes of disk space, and takes a long time. Currently you will have to manually edit several files as well because the paths are hardcoded. It's also not really well documented, and the readme is possibly out of date on some of the steps. If you do succeed please let us know, because then you can start fixing the bugs

You should probably try after all. I didn't think you were a beginner.

Re: OpenCPN for Android Beta test 4.1.705

On another note, I am looking at possible android tablets as I could really use one. So far I can find many, for example: quad core, mali graphics, 9 inch display for $40, but only 512mb of ram. Since Dave advised that 1gb is needed for opencpn what to do? The 1gb ones cost too much. So can anyone compare their experience between 512mb and 1gb?

Maybe on these devices it's best to run linux instead as it would work fine with 512mb ram. A better option is to make opencpn somehow use less memory, but as it can already run pretty well using 100mb of ram it's crazy that 512 isn't enough, or is it?
