openCPN>Arch Linux ARM Rockchip Hisense Chromebook

Hi, New to OpenCPN.
Just got a Hisense C11 Chromebook with a ARM Rockchip and would like to bring up OpenCPN on this machine. I don't know if OpenCPN will run on this machine as run on other mfg's Chromebooks or if I need to install the Arch Linux ARM for the Hisense C11 Chromebook.
Arch Linux ARM Can Now Be Installed on Rockchip Based Hisense Chromebook

Concurrently I am installing OpenCPN on a Dell 32bit win7 machine as I understand it is functional in that invironment. I do need to add a USB GPS and believe the best choice is the "NL-402U (u-blox5 chipset) Navilock Works, tested on Ubuntu 10.10 Works tried on Windows XP and Windows 7 32-bit"
GPS Devices | Official OpenCPN Homepage
As I aslo have Ubuntu on the Dell.
If I am going off in a wrong direction or if
Anyone else done or doing this I would appreciate council.
Thanks, James

Re: openCPN>Arch Linux ARM Rockchip Hisense Chromebook

I understand the new chromebook uses a new chip for the processor a "rockchip" I believe it requires a different distribution of linux. I am new to both Chromebooks and linux so my research so far may be wrong. The link to ARM's linux distro is in my first post.
Are you running OpenCPN on your Chromebook?
What model is your chromebook? Manufactered by ?

Re: openCPN>Arch Linux ARM Rockchip Hisense Chromebook

i am guessing I will have to compile linux because I do not find a version of opencpn configured for this model chromebook.
I looked up your boat specs and reviews, It is a really excellent. Do you live on it, did you sail it to South Africa? you must be quite a Seaman, and brave.
