Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

AHA! welcome to my world! I wish the two were switched as in the Link first, the Name LAST. I don't think I'd space out then..I have the same "intuitive" issue with MarinePOI and I just cannot learn it... I get a different error-prod on XP..."Link not complete- can't be saved"

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Dave..
I'm using Pavel's version of v. 2.6.1310 which has an excellent POI editor.
I hope you will incorporate it in the next release.

Also, the GE plugin is not working with this version. Can this be fixed also?

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Hi There,
I'm new to opencpn and and finding my way around quite successfully but one feature I can't seem to find is a hot key to mark the current vessel location which is not MOB, I would like to be able to eith use a button or a keystroke to add a waypoint and open the Mark Properties dialog, this would help mark locations quickly when and event other than MOB occured.
Is this a feature which is not available or is it a planned feature?

Many thanks
Ian

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Ian...
this feature is currently not available. Hitting Enter or Ctrl-M drops a mark at the position of the cursor - good enough for me as a replacement.
If it's not good enough for you, feel free to fill a feature request in OpenCPN::Tracker 3 - OpenCPN - Feature Requests: Tasklist and perhaps one day someone will implement it...

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Many thanks Pavel,

I appreciate CTRL+M and the MOB feature do this, it was more of a wish than a request

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Ian..

There is an excellent feature in a special OCPN version designed by Pavel.

http://opencpn.xtr.cz/opencpn.exe and replace the executable installed with 2.6.1310 beta.

Using the drop Mark and the Mark/WP properties feature, you can add all sorts of POI's with interactive links, locally as well as internet. You also have a large area for description etc.

I feel sure it will shortly be incorporated in the new 2.7 version once it becomes stable.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Tore...
This patch is merged in the 2.6.1511 beta. Also your other problems with ownship size and AIS target queries in .1311 should be solved, so give it a go and let us know how does it look...
And I also made a build of the GE plugin compatible with it - https://github.com/downloads/nohal/O...i16_v09_pi.dll

Cheers

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Pavel..

Did you know none of my previously (laboriously) created POI links no longer work in v. 2.6.1524.

The new entries and editing works fine as well as the POI icons but none of the links can be activated. Will you do another patch for it?

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Pavel..

I have found an interesting 'cloud based' facility which can create audio
information links to be included in the POI's'.

Here's the link:
http://crunchbase.com/company/spreaker

Audio information on places and warnings perhaps...

What do you think?

I need your navobj.xml to tell you what's wrong with your links.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Pavel..

I DON'T BELIEVE IT!! ALL my POI contents has been lost, the navobj.xml is EMPTY!!

This must surely be a serious program error. New installations should NEVER delete or overwrite existing navobj.xml files without asking specifically upon installation.
At least,a backup of the old file should be made automatically to avoid such disasters.
I have spent ages entering the contents of these POI's.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Tore...
I'm sorry for your loss, but navobj.xml is never deleted by the program and there's a configurable number of rotating backups kept, defaulting to 5 (how many other programs keeping that many backups you know?) - even in case of a very bad crash, which I never heard of yet, you have plenty of older versions to recover. The installation is never touching your data and config file unless you explicitly tell it to delete them. I really can hardly imagine what more could we do to keep your data safe. The only other thing I can recommend is to set up yet another backup solution, totally independent of OpenCPN using another tool.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Pavel..

They were all working before installing the latest two versions and I can not understand how they can disappear like that.

You mention 5 backups, but they are all empty?

All the links and access details are still contained in my area .gpx files, why can the navobj.xml file not be reconstructed from these? Surely that should be an obvious option?

I tried editing one item and saved the file. Then re-booted OCPN to read the change from the default directory but the link is still inactive?

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Tore...
if you have all your data saved in .gpx files, you have lost no data... navobj.xml contains just what's NOT in the layers.
