Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Tore...
Are your current layer GPX files available somewhere for download to have a look? That a layer gets loaded does not necessarily mean that any objects are found in it. I have to confess I got a bit lost during your migration to Google Drive recently

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Pavel..

PM me with your email address and you will have access to all my POI´s on the ´cloud drive´. (Sorry,it´s the way the Google Drive is accessed.)

Looking at the POI´s in my ProgramData/opencpn/ directory with Notepad, all the required data is there and each file shows it´s size. None are empty.
I have attached the NORWEGIAN POI´S file for your inspection.

Thanks

Tore

Upload one of your "perfect" layers, we can check it. No other way to know what's going on.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Tore, just passing thru but the "NORWEGIAN POIS.gpx " I downloaded didn't show up at all, in O here. UNTIL I ADDED :

</wpt>

to the last one at the bottom.... every thing must be perfectly "closed", so check that.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Sorry all..

There were actually small links missing in the chains. The same for the POI files I have uploaded to both my 4share as well as Google drive. I will correct all the uploads..

Luckily I had all correct POI files on my laptop which I have copied over.

Thanks foir suggestions and help all.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Pavel..

In the new version of OpenCPN I can not activate a local command contained in a POI.
For example: C:\INSTALLED PROGRAMS\TRIP PLANNING\qtVlm.exe
Any idea how to overcom this?

Tore...
This has nothing to do with OpenCPN, this behavior is dependent on your system configuration, we just tell it: "Do whatever you are configured to do with XXX"

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Pavel..

I am sorry but I am not with you there.. surely a link in a POI should activate whether it is a URL or a local command? If I am not mistaken I think it did so in previous versions.

If you know SpotWalla, it also has the option to input POI´s along the route, either as an internet URL or a local command,it even plays local videos... and I did not make any special alterations in my systems configuration.

So you are saying there is no way around this? It can´t be done?

Tore...
What I say is that I certainly am not going to implement anything else than a standard way of asking the OS to do whatever it is configured to do. The way around your problems is setting your OS correctly, not rewriting OpenCPN.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Pavel..

It would have been more helpful to all if you had just told me this is the way to do it when you wish to evoke a local command from a POI: file:/C:/Program Files/4shared Desktop/desktop.exe

Now I can start the Route planner from within OpenCPN from a POI and display both pages side by side.

Re: New Waypoint Properties Implementation

Tore, I think what Pavel was saying, is that a file might be "associated" with an executable...as in linking to a "pdf" file will start adobe acrobat or whatever which will in turn open the file to see... This "associating" is a function of the operating system and needs to be working properly ahead of time for a link to a file to work.

That said, linking to executables also seems to work ok fine on xp if I just browse to em with Pavel's GUI....true, the slashes go forward "/" (html fashion) and not backward "\" (dos-windows command-line fashion) which is an oddment that needs remembering if you are typing it in..
