Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Under Audio. Was set at (NME) Microsoft Sound Mapper -Output.
Now set at (NME) Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio).
Did try (Windows Directsound) Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) and (Windows Direct Sound) Primary Sound Driver.

They all seem to have hissing sound

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

What does Radio bandwith do? It is set at 12500. With order at 400. Maybe that is cutting the signal off?

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Here is photo of 162.475 with best adjustments I could get using Realtek High Def Audio - Output.
Only hear hissing when I turn on Audio...same for 162.550.

Maybe I am not doing something right. Found Realtek High Definition was the sound card under Device Manager.

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

The audio settings sound right. Just a long shot, but when you installed SDR#, did you replace the rtlsdr.dll file in the sdr# folder?

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Since the SurfacePro3 has only one usb port, I have had a bu-343 gps and the DVB-T+DAB+FM DVB usb2.0 dongle plugged into a 3 port inateck hub + gb ethernet. Now I have removed the hub, plugged the dongle into the single usb directly. The usb driver is found and SDRsharp runs just as before with hissing at 162.475 and 162.550. Have turned off Norton and that makes no difference. Have tried starting SDRsharp with "Run as admin". That makes no difference. Have tried both of the manufacturers dongles with these settings and there is no significant change in the results. Still hissing. Is this a win8.1 issue?
Should I try an older Dell laptop win 7?

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Quite frankly I have done so many things I do not remember.
Should it reinstall?

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Give this a try. I am pretty much out of any more ideas. Download the RTL-SDR Drivers, and extract the files from the x32 folder into the SDR# folder, replacing any files if it asks:
RelWithDebInfo.zip on rtl-sdr – Attachment – OsmoSDR

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Does the fact that SDRsharp is not working right, mean that Opencpn will not work? How are they joined at the hip?

IE: If the drivers for opencpn rtlsdr were working correctlthey Opencpn AIS would work and SDRsharp may not work because maybe Win8.1 does not work with its driver ?

Do we know SDRsharp works with Win 8.1? If so what is the procedure and requirements?

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

When starting OpenCPN sometimes I get a message about rtlsdr_pi failing. One startup icon shows this if I don't select "run as admin" the other one does not show this, but perhaps it is missing the problem altogether...? Anyway in the opencpn.ini file I have this entry fairly frequently.

How can this be fixed?

Re: New rtlsdr Plugin

Also when I open Neal Arudale's AISDecoder by right click and select "Run as admin" (even tho I have admin rights as a user) the program comes up with the Options button not greyed out. When Options is selected there is a message to save the default ini file because it is an older version, which I do when told (often). I have had this program recieving GPS nmea but not AIS.
I am beginning to think this should be AIS pita.
