Re: Lack of information on CM93 charts

G'Day all,

This discussion leads me to a different question: Since different versions of cm93 have different data sets, and none seem to have them all, is it possible to have more than one version of cm93 resident and accessible at the same time?

I tried simply adding a second version in the charts tab. A second "yellow bar" appeared on the bottom of the page and if one hovers the cursor over each of them, the appropriate file names appear... I thought I was home free! But, when one then clicks upon the second yellow bar, the system reverts to the first one.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong here... any suggestions or comments on the general idea?

Cheers,

Jim

Many thanks for picking up that error. Mea culpa

Yes. I have seven versions of cm93 dating back to 2002 loaded in the computer, have listed them all in the 'Active Chart Directorie' and then created Chart Groups for each of the versions. Must be careful to NOT select the 'All Active Charts' under Chart Groups or things bog down.

Then, for any area, you can select each version in the Chart Groups to see the differences.

I think you can just disable the quilting options in the settings menu and then the buttons along the bottom will allow you to click on the chart you want. I am no expert but that's how I did it.

4 instances of CM93. All charts active. No specific chart groups defined.
Quilting on. Right-click those instances you want to hide and click "Hide this chart". Leave one version active.
This works for me, but may bog a low power system down.

[QUOTE=JesperWe;1054036]Except Terrys screenshots are from the 2007 Edition of CM93, not August 2011.

How to decide from what year a cm93/2 edition are?

You will find an empty file in the CM93 folder called YYYYMMDD.EXD, where YYYY is the edition year, MM the month and DD the date of the edition.

Re: Lack of information on CM93 charts

Unfortunately, the YYYYMMDD.EXD is not protected and can be changed by anyone anytime.
The latest cm93v2 file I have found is (rightfully) named cm92ed2_2011Dec, has an .exd name of 20120706 and its most recent maps are dated 4-12-2011.
By the way, this version is about 100 Mb bigger than the previous version and has, for me at least, some useful additions.

Re: Lack of information on CM93 charts

I've done some sailing with both O and MS running side by side on two machines with the same charts and often I see more detail on MS even with the OCPN slider on max, except for maybe ONE time. Another OCPN bug I had on an older (didnt try it yet on the newest version is that if you tell it to change to different CM93 Charts in a new directory, it says it has been changed but it still showed the old charts. I had to actually delete the old charts from the directory it was looking in to get it to show me the new CM93s I wanted. Just FYI.
