Chart Scale Changes on Opening

I have been creating .kap charts which work but when using them they zoom in when I click on them in the chart bar, plus they dissappear when I zoom back out to the view I want; very annoying.

What controls this in OpenCPN?

BTW, have been using OpenCPN for a few years now and it just keeps getting better and better. It's always been good but now it is and extensive and hugely impressive product. When I read through the latest help pages I just shake my head at how much is in there now. Good work to the team.

wingssail...
You have the Toolbox->Display->Preserve Scale when Switching Charts checkbox checked, right?

Re: Chart Scale Changes on Opening

Yes, I already had that option set. But I have found the problem.

These charts were scanned at 600dpi and the resulting tiff files were 96MB the pixel sizes were 7000 x 6000 or so and the charts out of imgkap were 14MB.

This file size was the only difference between these charts and some other ones prepared by another person which worked fine.

So I reduced the size of the tiff image and rebuilt the charts and they too work fine now.

Thanks for the help.
