Nasa Engine to AIS and Raymarine E80

Has anyone successfully installed a Nasa/Si Tex engine 2 to a Raymarine E80? I have the Engine hooked up to a separate antenna and the red light comes on and the green led flashes every 30seconds or so. The E80 has had the system set up to AIS 38,400 baud, but the display indicates that the AIS is not connected. I have connected the black wire from the AIS to the +Nema in and the shield to the shield on the E80 connector.
Can anyone help? It would be nice to have the AIS receiver working.

Re: Nasa Engine 2 Ais and Raymarine E80

Provided you cabled OK now check the E80 menus if everything is set up OK.

Here: a reference to the E80 side (with a different AIS though):
Crazy NMEA Wiring: AIS + 2-Way DSC

On NASA side cables are black and screen respectively.

OOOOps C80, not E80? One moment PLS.

Done this?
"...

Setting up the NMEA for AIS or Navtex

If you have a Navtex or AIS receiver attached to the NMEA 0183 port, you will need to change the NMEA Port Setting. This feature is accessed via the System Setup Menu/System Integration Setup Menu.

You can connect either AIS or Navtex or other instrument to one display. In multiple display systems each display can be configured independently and all data will be shared across the system.

Instrument data tests

To ensure that your system is receiving instrument data, you should check thefollowing:
From SeaTalk or SeaTalk2
Open the instrument application and ensure all relevant data is displayed. If you arenot receiving data, check cable connections.
From third party devices on NMEA 0183
Check that appropriate NMEA sentences are being sent from the third party device andon the E-Series Display. Open the instrument application and ensure all relevant data is displayed.

Connected to equipment

to NMEA port Setting Additional information

General NMEA instruments NMEA 4800 Default setting

AIS receiver Navtex 38400

(!!!)

Re: Nasa Engine 2 Ais and Raymarine E80

OK, so aside from the obvious flip in Raymarine manual it seems like you are connecting black with white and green with shield. Then you set up the NMEA in E80 menu to 38400 and off you go.

Checked everything? What results?

Cheers,

For the E80 menu all set right got the black wire to the E80 in, but no green wire connected, the NASA manual says no need, but still no luck!

Re: Nasa Engine 2 Ais and Raymarine E80

Green is Ray side not NASA.

NASA (black, shield) Ray (white, green). Is it not what the NASA/Ray manuals suggest?

Any way you can connect the NASA to a laptop and check if it is talking with any AIS software?

You sure pushed whatever buttons it takes on E80 to have the mobiles pop up on screen?

Finally got it to work, problem was confusing color! Who would think shield to green? And black to white! Got the antenna real low, but I'm getting signals from 8 or 9 miles here in Benicia surrounded be hills, better than my VHF rx
