I have Raymarine instruments in my cockpit, all readable from the helm, so interfacing depth etc, with the Garmin wasn't important. If it had been, I'd probably gone with a Raymarine chartplotter, but the touch screen and firmware of the Garmin was so intuitive that I didn't even need to read the instructions to get it going. I finally did read them to get the fine details, but I'd already figured out most of it. Also, the graphics and print are large enough for my old eyes to read without reaching for glasses, and I can read all of it in the dark as well as daylight!
I got the SD card for the area so it has the aerial photos of points of interest and marina entrances etc. It's an amazing box.

BTW, the duct tape was Scotch 3M. One layer, no satellites, tape off, 8 or more within a few seconds.
