Because my hubby is one of those techie, geeky guys, we have a stand alone site that he enjoys tweaking. But we use blogger for blogging - easy to update, as others have noted. Also, some readers would prefer to view your posts by signing up to your RSS feed, and using blogger or wordpress makes that easier.

Re: Blog or DotCom?

I am a fan of Blogspot. For me, its easy and since I'm not trying to build a 'brand' it works well. I blog for a few reasons- to be able to remember this time in our life, to document the upgrades, to connect with other sailing peeps. That's it. If I were interested in trying to profit from the blog I might go with a dot.com but I'm not so there ya go.

Re: Blog or DotCom?

Now I'm feeling really silly that I can't get a handle on Blogspot. I'm going to have to find some kind of tutorial for it.

Re: Blog or DotCom?

What irritates me most about blogs (from a readers point of view), is that new posts are posted at the top. If I am reading a blog from scratch, I have to start at the bottom heading, scroll to the bottom of the post, then scroll up to the next post. Scroll down as I read, then scroll up again to the next post. Very irritating.

Spark,

On most blog platforms if you click on a particular post it will only display that post. Not all of them. And at the bottom and top of the page will be a link to "Go to the next post" or "Go to a newer post". I think that will eliminate your scrolling if you try it.

From the blogger point of view one decides which order they want. From the reader point of view eh I want the news so I do like the newest at the top.

As mentioned above there may be some platforms that let the reader re-sort (?).
