Agia Efimia

We’re in AE, exploring Kefalonia with a view to making it a base when we move our yacht down to the Med from the UK in 2-3 years time.
Are there any Forum members either in AE or planning to be there in the next 7 days? If so, could we meet for a beer and chat - on us of course! Tim & Christine

Re: Agia Efimia

I was there in the Spring. Small little tourist town, with a few nice restaurants. The port/quay isn't really a great place to be in any weather though. Just look at the water marks on the rocks and you'll see why.

Sami just down the road is bit more purposeful and better protected.

I might be. I’m in Kalamos, Porto Leone at the moment. But I’m not a long time CF contributor. And definitely not as colorful as most forumites!

Oh, and I don’t think any place in Kephalonia is suitable for a long term base. Preveza is much better. I keep my boat in Malta. Great protection from the weather and a very skilled workforce...

Re: Agia Efimia

Hi N4585K

I agree - Kefalonia appears to lack anywhere that could be used as a permanent base. Lefkas seems to be the best option in terms of a marina where a boat can be kept over winter and maintained as necessary. We're looking at options from there, and having a summer base or bases, perhaps with a small apartment or house to provide respite between trips. It would be good to hear from others who are already following that approach.

Hi Tim,
Lefkada Marina is pretty well protected. I never stay there, so don’t know much about prices. Whenever I’m there I just tie up to the town cay. For maintenance issues I have good experiences with Joe/CYS there.
