Good stuff

For those unfamiliar with the make / model:-

Shipman 28 archive data - Yachtsnet Ltd. online UK yacht brokers - yacht brokerage and boat sales

Well, hopefully it's the same

Hi
Welcome!!!

I also have a 1974 shipman 28 (in yellow though), got it a few months back.
Love sailing on it, fast, safe and cheap to maintain!!

I would be interested in knowing what equipment other shipmans have, such a furling system, sails, etc
Mine was in really bad state and I have been doing it up slowly....now I have lights

Regards
Andres

Re: A Little Boat

Hello Andres
i love my shipman 28, was in good condition overall, lot of spear sails, spinnakers, jibs, all the lights works fine and she was ready to sail as she was delivered to me by sea!
Started the hard work already with sand paper and varnish, you know yourself, lot of wood!
AS navigation equipment what i can say she has a silva, wind direction and depth, and also a radio, compass of course, but ahter than that nothing else.
She is a beauty tho, have to buy sm sort of electrical generator, solar or wind, have u got any recommendations?
Also need a good but not too expensive marine gps and why not, a water desalinator!

Regards

Marco

Hi
Nice!!
Mine was also sailable, and with spare sails but I forgot to check the lights!!
Only found out about the lights on the night of the first race, when I was anchoring!! Some idiot had cut the cables on the fuse box in a way ensuring that could not be reconnected, so I have had to run new cables all around, the rest is cosmetics, but I am almost done inside.

For power I want to install solar, I live in Hong Kong and here it is extremely sunny all year long, but in Irland it might be better wind.

The idiot who cut the cables also cut the cables to the instruments internally.... I guess that it was the previous owner, he had to go back to the states and sold the boat when he was already gone, and I took advantage of the situation and only paid half of what he was asking for....

Looking forward to some pics
I have just few myself but now that is looking nicer I will be posting more

Regards
Andres
