Finding a good broker to sell my boat

I am looking for advices in order to find good brokers to sell my boat, a beneteau 49' 2007 registered in the US.
The boat is actually stored out of the water in Grenada, but so far has attracted only a few viewings.
I was told that the most active brokers are located in Florida. Should I consider moving my boat to Florida to increase the chances of selling.
Advices would be really appreciated.

Re: Finding a good broker to sell my boat

You will absolutely have access to a much, much larger number of boat buyers in Florida.

Several reasons. More boats in Florida so buyers can travel to one spot and have a lot more options. Very expensive to fly to the Caribbean to see one boat that may not even be what the buyer's looking for. Buying boats in a foreign country, even if the boat is US registered, adds a lot of complexity and uncertainty for the buyer.

Do not go for a broker, give 50 or whatever dollars to a friend in marina to show the boat to visitor, advise it on the internet...never get a broker. Print 20 technical resume and keep it on board to show to the potential customer

I'm aware you dislike broker fees ... but since you're now giving this advise, I have to ask: how many boats have you sold, especially internationally?

Re: Finding a good broker to sell my boat

Is the boat US "State" registered? Or do you mean a US federally documented boat?
The difference in title status might make an overseas buyer nervous.

I can't think that buyers local to Grenada want to bother with flag and title change, and buyers from the US would be happier to take a cheap flight into Florida, than to drag out to Grenada and unfamiliar purchase requirements for a "foreign" transaction. So my vote? Bring it to Florida. In that size and price class, a broker will make a good effort to advertise it and show it. You just missed the Miami and Ft.L. boat shows, where there could have been a lot of buyers.
