Charleston Boat Yard - which of these yards to use?

I will be moving by truck my 45 ft sailboat off the Great Lakes to the Atlantic this fall. I will need to have my VC17 stripped (not compatible with any ocean anti-fouling paint per Interlux) and then prep / bottom painted. Additionally, I'll need the typical commissioning tasks (step mast, etc) performed. I just returned from Charleston where I visited two boat yards - Ross Marine and City Boat Yard.

What does the forum recommend? One yard recommends blasting the bottom, several layers of barrier coat, then bottom paint while the second yard recommends blasting the bottom, 2 layers of epoxy, 2 layers of barrier coat, then bottom paint. I don't know if the boat was previously barrier coated ... would this affect how to proceed?

Also, does anyone have personal experience with either Ross Marine or the City Boat Yard ... recommendations?

Starting in Lake Michigan, I leave for my 5 year adventure in 8 weeks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alan
