What is you type IV PFD of choice?

What's your throwable type IV PFD? What are your thoughts about it?

I like the thought of having it connected to the boat so it can be maneuvered to the one in distress, and once grabbed, the distressed can be pulled to the boat. Also have a throwable cushion, for what's that worth.

Re: What is you type IV PFD of choice?

The hard plastic type found on commercial vessels. They are big enough to get into and I attach a 60' polypro line to it that is hanging from the rack under the life ring. The fabric covered horseshoe bouys don't hold up, the sun rots the covers off in a few years. The polypro rope and the SOLAS reflective tape can easily be replaced when they get sun damaged and it will be like new for far less cost than replacing a sun rotted fabric or neoprene covered life ring.
