Tidal Prediction Software for UK

Hello,
I am looking for a Tidal prediction Software with many ports (Standard and Secondary Ports) in UK.
So far, I have been using WXTide32. Is there anything better for UK ?
Thanks,
Gerard.

Most of the UK sailing magazines run regular reviews of the available tide prediction software - try www.sailingtoday.co.uk or www.pbo.co.uk to see if they have back numbers available. I've just moved house and recycled all my old magazines so cannot be more help

You could post a question in the new UK group

I've seen one called Totaltide from the UK hydrographers office

You can try JTides * JTides Home Page . But you should know:

"In April 2002, the UK Hydrographic Office ordered the removal of all UK tidal data from JTides and all other free tidal prediction programs. The fact that this is a free program, created in the public interest, has had no effect on their zeal to collect nonexistent copyright fees. The fact that this decision will decrease the safety of sailing in the UK has not swayed them in the slightest.

I mention this because the absence of UK tidal data is one of the most common inquiries about JTides. I am powerless to shape the thinking of the bureaucrats in the UK Hydrographic office, and I can imagine Horatio Nelson shifting uncomfortably in his grave.

NOTE: See below (Version 4.9 build 232) for a restoration of some UK sites."

So take that, UK sailors.

You can also get UK sites with paid products like Nobeltec's Tides & Currents. Or, of course, Admiralty TotalTide.

WXtide32 is probably the best you can get free. As has been suggested Total Tide is very popular but you have to pay.

There is a different outlook in UK to charts and tides, UK take the view that as it was taxpayers money that has been used to produce them originally why not make taxpayers pay again to use them

For up to 6 days hence this has extensive port coverage:

EasyTide - on-line tidal predictions from the UKHO
("Welcome to Admiralty EasyTide the most comprehensive tidal prediction service on the Web.")

An on-line service only, but it is free!

If you use an iPhone, I can thoroughly recommend Tides Planner from Tucabo. I've used it for the last two years and have found it to be excellent for UK and European waters. If you buy the full version you have full access for future dates without an internet connection. It's probably one of my most useful of 50 or so apps. I'm just a customer - no connection to Tucabo!

Gerard, Total Tide is a wonderful program and is used by many/most cruisers we have met in Southeast and East Asia. If Nigel1 wasn't able to help, send me a PM.

C-Map NT and MAX formats have Tides & Currents built in. If you double click on a tide symbol you get a 24 hour tide graph and there are current arrows scattered around the charts. Not saying this is the best, just bringing up another option.

Hi, I'm a newcomer and have a copy of total tide on CD which I have used for some years. Unfortunately, the CD apears to be damage/corrupted and will not install on my new laptop although it works fine on the old laptop. is there any way to transfer the program already installed on the old to the new?

Re: Tidal Prediction Software for UK

Nigel,

What do I get with TotalTide? A list of constituent frequencies with amplitudes and phases? Graphs as shown on the EasyTide web site, but for the whole year? Are versions for previous years available at reduced price?
