I would recommend Ketchikan. It is the closest to you. They have a couple of nice
marinas, operated by the City, with all the usual conveniences. Catch a
motor coach down to SEATAC, clearing
customs on the way, and hop an
Alaska Airlines jet for a 90 minute ride to K-Town. During summer months, Alaska Air has four non-stops a day to/from KTN.
Or ride the Alaska
Marine Highway (Ferry) out of Bellingham. It will drop you off within walking distance of your boat in KTN
Although snowfalls can be heavy some years, in general Ketchikan has the mildest
winter of all of Alaska, mostly just 40º(F) and raining all winter, unless it clears up then temps can drop down into the teens until the next
weather system comes in off the ocean and it clouds over, warms up and rains some more.
BTW, I am an ex-Canuck, born and raised in Powell River.
