yachtvalhalla Ask Venture Further if they got a license to the Here maps see:

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/displa...NAVTEQ%29+maps

says formerly Nokia Navteq

Evidently Here took over in 2016

I guess SasPlanet doesn't have that license maybe you have to pay for it???

GE2KAP and OpenCPN 4.8.2

The interface with OpenCPN 4.8.2 works fine except for the issue of zooming in. (And Paul has a fix for this)

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Awhile back someone asked me why the GE2KAP charts jump to the Cm93 charts when you try to zoom in or out on OpenCPN with quilting active. At that time I told them to turn off quilting on OpenCPN.

Well I now have a better answer: You need to open the OpenCPN Options/Display/Advanced and change the Chart Zoom/Scale Weighting for Raster charts to +5. While you are there also change the Graphics to OpenGL to prevent the charts turning black when you zoom below a scale of .1

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

GE2KAP.V28.0.1.0 is available now. You can get it by either clicking on the "Check for Updates" button in the Options page of a previous version or from the Downloads page of my website: Sample

This version fixes problems in very long wide paths, polygons and quilting.

In previous versions the charts would wonder off if the wide path was very long. Now a wide path can be hundreds even 1000s of nautical miles. I created charts at Zoom level 15 for the entire coast of Cuba (see attachment) using one wide path. Because I specified to quilt it created 16 large charts rather than 1000s. It took less than 2 hours to run.

I had to restrict polygons from splitting if they are too large but this should not be a problem as most polygons are for harbors or reefs and they can be quite large without splitting.

For quilting the change is that if there are multiple charts each quilted chart is created as soon as its images are read. In previous versions all the quilted charts were created at the end.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Please ignore my suggestion to use OpenGL on OpenCPN. It causes all sorts of weird problems. Leave the Graphics mode unchecked.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

GE2KAP.V29.0.0.0
Well another brand new version. Fixed a few minor problems but has 3 major changes:

First I have removed one feature that has been a thorn for years: the Detailed path. It allowed you to create charts at two different heights/zooms. Only one person as far as I know ever used it and he finished sailing around the world and sold his boat. It confused most other users. Now the entering of the height/zoom is much clearer.

The second big change is for the creation of SasPlanet quilted charts. In the previous versions to load the required tiles, I moved the SasPlanet display to each image along the path/polygon. In this version I invoke the SasPlanet Download facility to download all the tiles. Its faster than the old method and more efficient.

The third change is a new function that allows other programs to dynamically invoke GE2KAP to create a chart then terminate.

You can get the new version by pressing the "Check for Updates" on the Options panel or by downloading it from the Downloads page of my website: Sample

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

GE2KAP.V29.0.1.4
New version fixes a few problems like the path problem at Diag=0 and also a loop if you have a text size greater than 100%.

Also we updated two language files French and Portuguese and a brand new Italian one, thanks Fabio.

Also have an enhancement to the polygon feature. Previously there was a limit on the size but now GE2KAP can process very large polygons but it has to do some special processing to handle them, See the Help Polygon Path Support/ Very Large Polygons for an explanation.

You can get the new version from the Downloads page of my website Sample or click on "Check for Updates" on the Options page above the Facebook and Donate buttons.

GE2KAP.V29.0.2.0
Just created a new version that fixes a few obscure problems but mainly it has an interface that allows me to run test cases that test most of the functions.
Its available from the Downloads page of my website:
Sample
Or by pressing the "Check for Updates" on the Option page.

GE2KAP.V29.0.3.0
Just created a new version that fixes some problems when creating charts from SasPlanet with a high zoom level like Z19 and up.
It available from my website's Download page: www .gdayii.ca
or by clicking the "Check for Updates" on the option page of an older version.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

GE2KAP.V30.0.0 is now available. It enhances the wide path feature to allow you to specify the width of the path in nautical miles. I also converted a lot of code from Rexx to C++ to speed up the calculations for the number of charts produced while quilting..

You can get by clicking on the "Check for Updates" on the Option page or by downloading it from the Downloads page of Website: gdayii.ca

Thanks to everyone who tested this.

GE2KAP.V30.0.0.1
Well you can't test everything. Found the V30.0.0.0 will crash if you pause it by moving the cursor to the top or bottom of the screen then replying to the message.
So fixed with this version.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

I discovered a bug on making Wide Path charts. The last (or only if just one) may be messed up. I have a fix for it at the following link. Just download and unzip (password: phiggins) the two files GE2KAP.rex and GE2KAPFuncs.dll and replace the ones in your GE2KAP.V30.0.0.1 directory. Here is the link:

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

A big thanks to Paul and the others involved, for making this gem of a utility :-)
I am just getting started with GE2KAP, and impressed so far.

What is the consensus regarding the red dot in SASplanet images ... Is there a way to remove those now?

I am using the very latest GE2KAP.V30.0.0.1, and SASplanet 180405 nightly.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Yes. GE2KAP now can use the Sasplanet cache directly to create charts. See the Help (F1) SasPlanet/Using the SasPlanet Cache. This eliminates the orange ball.

BTW in V3.0.0.1 I introduced an enhancement to the Wide path feature that allows you to specify the width in nautical miles. There have been some problems discovered with it and I have a fix available. You can download the fix at the following link. Its a zip file (the unzip password is: phiggins). It contains two files GE2KAP.rex and GE2KAPFuncs.dll. Replace the existing files with those names in the GE2KAP.V30.0.0.1 directory. Here is the link:
