Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

xyno,

It seems the .rx5 format is a Raymarine secret format and I can not find any utilities or documentation that will tell me the how to create it.

Perhaps you can ask Raymarine if there is a way to convert a .kap chart to .rx5 they obviously know how to do it. Let me know if they provide anything

Sorry

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

GE2KAP.V15.0.0.0 is now available

It fixes some probelms with V14 creating charts from Polygons or Paths and also much faster tiling opencpn and Polygon/Paths.

Also it removes the need to set Google earth to Decimal degrees and has a much faster typing test.

You can get it here:

Index of /Downloads

then click on GE2KAP.V15.0.0.exe

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Paul

First I want to say what a GREAT tool the GE2KAP is! It has really added another whole level of navigation for us. We have been using it for the past couple of years and can't imagine going anywhere without it.

I have tried to download your latest update version but the link on your website appears to be broken. Is there another location that I should be using for updating my current version?

Thank You

Chuck

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

NEW VERSION of GE2KAP

I just uploaded a new version that adds support for SasPlanet.

You can get the new version from my website: Sample then go to the Downloads page and click on GE2KAP.V15.0.2.0

SasPlanet provides a great many sources of charts: including GE, Bing, Navionics and many more. After displaying a chart on SasPlanet, on GE2KAP select sasplanet from the Overlay pulldown, give the chart a name press Create Chart. This will overlay the SasPlanet chart on Goole earth then create a new chart. If you just want a chart without overlaying on GE then check the "Create chart from overlay. Do not use Google Earth" before pressing "Create Chart".

Paul

GE2KAP.V15.0.2.0 runs fine

Now I was wondering if you could possibly modify GE2KAP to overlay two chartlets extracted from SASPlanet e.g. Navionics and Bing, or overlay CM93 chartlets with Bing...
That would at last break GE monopoly (Bing sat views are better at times)

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Thanks for feedback.

The Bmp is deleted when you create another chart or terminate Ge2kap

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

I have created a program to follow a route to load the SasPlanet cache so you can use it later offline. Its similar to my GERoute program. I have two testers of this new program but if anyone else would like to test it let me know. You'll have to PM your email address if I don't have it already.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone !!!

Paul,
you have done a great job mate.
I have been off the boat since early Dec on "Holiday" in my former residential city of Perth W. Australia, hence my absence from this thread.

I will not be back on board till early Feb, but I have my navigation computer with me with SAS and its chart cache, I guess I can test the charting capabilities, but I don't think I can test the routing.

I just downloaded V15.0.2.2, do I need to uninstall the older 1.0 version first?
Please tell me what I can do to help testing.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

GE2KAP V16

I just uploaded a new version that corrects these problems:

1. If you are creating charts from a path or tiling and your Internet is slow, it was possible to get blurry charts.

2. Removed that pesky BMP from the chart directory.

3. There was no way to pause GE2KAP once it started creating a large number of charts. Now simply bring any application to the foreground by clicking on it in the taskbar and GE2KAP will pause to allow you to other work, change settings in GE or terminate processing. You can also continue processing if you like.

You can get it by clicking on "Check for Updates on the third panel or go yp my website: Sample and go to the Downloads and clicking on
GE2KAP.V16.0.0.0

And to answer your question spiv: No you don't have to uninstall the old version. You may want to go back to it if the new one does work. Once you are satisfied with the new version then uninstall the old version if you like.
