Hey there!

Anybody know where can I find ENCs of Southeast Asia and the Philippines without spending too much? The Marshall Islands too?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply BriaF. I use OpenCPN which doesn't read Navionics charts. Do you know how much would I need to spend on software to use the Navionics charts?

Google is your friend...

This is a great blog from a cruiser based in Philippines.

Check out his download section..... (under the Cruisers Corner drop down menu...)
or a link on the right called (downloads...)

here is a link to his home page: Great chart info in downloads..

http://sailthephilippines.wordpress.com/

Hope that helps.. unaffiliated with his site.

BTW, he also uses OPENCPN....

Re: ENCs for South East Asia, Philippines, and the Marshalls

Navionics is the iPad app
You would need an iPad

Ezzyd has some good links
Try those should run on open cpn.

I use navionics as a backup to plotter
For the cost of 1mega wide chip
I can have all the maps I need for
A circumnavigation
At an affordable price

1/. Plotter
2/ navionics = 2 iPads & 1 iPhone
3/ laptop with open CPN
4/ handheld GPS some paper maps

Navionics on 3 separate devices at the cost of
1 subscription

I think I have the nav adequately covered.

I believe this may be the one you were thinking of:

You have to register, give your email and then log on.. but great deal, official charts for $0.

it is the ONLY Logical solution..

here is the blurb from them:

Quote:
The East Asia Hydrographic Commission (EAHC) was formed within the framework of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO). The mission of it is to work out regional cooperative programmes through the endeavors of national hydrographic offices for the provision of adequate and timely hydrographic information for marine navigation in the region. In this respect, the EAHC is very pleased to accomplish this mission by producing small scale official Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC) of the South China Sea to serve the maritime community. Presently, the EAHC has nine Member States (MSs) : China, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
Regions covered are shown below:
