untangling 100 ft of wet 1/2" nylon rode in tight anchor well?

Like the title says.... how do you do it. It's wet and dirty.
How do you coil it neatly for your next anchoring? My experience is with my "new to me" 27 Catalina which has a nice but small triangular anchor well.
Thanks

You don't coil it, put it in a pile. Picture a throw bag and how you stuff one.

Re: untangling 100 ft of wet 1/2" nylon rode in tight anchor well?

Every so often I would to go up river (fresh water) drop anchor and pay out all rode to clean/rinse my 3 strand rode, then take in and recoil/pack in locker.
Now I have retired all 3 of my 3 strand rodes and use (in addition to 100 ft. chain)
8 plait/brait rode which does not tangle and takes up a fraction of space compared to the 3 strand.
Wait for a sale at Defender or other and give yourself a present.
Is a delight, especially when room in anchor locker is tight.
Have 3 - 1/2" and 5/8" 3 strand rodes in good condition for sale.

Tip I picked up on the Catalina 25 forums: keep a bucket upside down in the anchor locker. Wrap the rode around this as you pull it in and put away. Easy bucket has to be small enough to fit of course. Also good backup bucket storage location!

For me the most efficient procedure has been to first pull the rode from the sea by hand on the deck in a pile, then turn that pile upside down, and then pull the rode by hand to the well through the round hole in the deck (one hand in the well, below the deck level). It is easy to make the final pile flat enough so that the rode will come out at the next anchorage without any problems.
