I disagree.

Higher than design flow rates can contribute to higher initial cost, higher energy consumption, higher operating cost, unnecessary noise, and excessive component erosion.

As is almost always the case, the system designer set design specifications and selected components for a reason.

For my 16k Btu A/C 500 gph is recommended and that's what I have used for the past 15 years or so. When you are on shore power, like you would most likely be if you need A/C, the cost of the additional electricity is a mute point.

300h for that unit is fine. And yes, you should not oversize your pump.
