Find This Bumper

I have been unable to locate replacement white rubber TINGLEY dockboard bumpers. I have two but will need at least two more.

It appears that Tingley (now?) only makes (rubber) waterproof protective footwear and clothing

Is there a name or number anywhere on them?

Re: FIND THIS BUMPER

The wood is 5-3/4 x 1-1/2 so the 2x4 version is too small. I also found Tingley to be making goloshes. Unless someone else is making this product I will need to find used. We tied up to a wall in Green Bay that was large section sheet piling and or largerst bumpers disappeared in them. The boards were perfect.

Re: Find This Bumper

If Tingley used to make them, perhaps they sold the molds to someone else. It couldn't hurt to ask.

Seems so logical Gord. I've searched on line and had my marina jocks look. Everyone knows the product, they've seeen and felt it but had no idea it was gone. What is odd is that I don't think there is a replacement. Seems like someone has left money on the table.

Re: Find This Bumper

I know it's a 10 year old thread! But why start a new one?

I inherited a pair of these fender boards from my dad, made for our first trip Down East in '76. Spent the last decade lusting and waiting to get them. Then in the first season I owned them, one washed overboard and I couldn't find it.

I have a couple pairs of the 2x4 style, but not the 2x6 style.

Anyone ever find a source? I wonder if a mold could be made and a two-part rubber poured? I'd happily pay $100 in materials and a few days of my labor, if the end product were anywhere close the original Tingly quality.

Re: Find This Bumper

I never did find them. Mostly solved the issue by anchoring out exclusively. My dock boards are a storage issue. I still wouldn’t mind having two.

Re: Find This Bumper

We had them stored for a while, pulled them out in anticipation of needing them. A pair stores in almost the same space a single, and they don't "snag" when pulling them out. So, yes, you need two! LOL

Mostly we only use one, but we have a new house with a pier that we have to tie across the end (not enough water alongside, yet). I wanted to use one fender board on each of the end pilings. Sort of solved it by setting an anchor off the beam and taking it to a jib winch, to take a lot of the load off the fenders. Post-COVID construction boom means it's a 3 year wait to get a new longer pier -- once you start, and we haven't even started yet.
