What Cam Spring Do I Have ?

I have a cam with only 1 spring, it would be good to replace it. Does anyone know what type of cam spring this is, and where you can order new ones?

That looks to be an old schafer. I think you'd have better luck with a new cam with close to if not the same hole spacing.

I agree it's Schaefer. Springs should be available.

Schaefer Marine Hardware - Product Catalog

I didn't see springs listed on Schaefer's web page, though they ought to be able to supply them. West Marine or Fisheries Supply should have them.

Thanks for the info.

They are not on Schaefers web site. At west marine they told me they don't sell springs, but you have to buy a whole new cam.

Anyway, I found a site which has schaefer springs, but they do not include a picture, and I am not sure which size it is.

They actually have two different sizes
50-007-01 - Schaefer Schaefer Cam Spring, 70-28, 70-29, Left 50-021-L - Schaefer Schaefer Cam Spring, 70-38, 70-39, Left

Does anyone know what 70-28 or 70-38 means? Is this actually the right spring I need?

They have at least two different size cams, here's one of them, 70-28.

Hi,
Steve Majkut from Schaefer Marine here. That is an older Schaefer fiddle block/cam assembly. We still have springs available. Measure the center to center of the cam posts. You will either have a 1-1/2" or 1-3/4" space. Email me what you have and I'll drop some springs in the mail today. Stevem@Schaefermarine.com
Cheers,
Steve
