Main halyard - 2:1 & single vs double braid?

When looking at strength on double braided dyneema and compare it with a single braided...I can downsize a lot...or get a lot more strength/less stretch by going same size. So? single braid with cover last 20-30ft or so?

2:1 halyard - halyard shackle vs halyard block? Yes, with the block I might lose an inch or two, but which one would make least friction and easier to hoist?

Double braid dyneema and single braid are not swappable in most applications. Unlike polyester lines where the cover carries a good bit of the load on double braid dyneema the cover is just there for abrasion/UV protection/grip on the winch.

So yes you can go down in size, but you then really need to add a cover in those areas where it touches a piece of equipment under load, or where you need to grab it by hand. It is a good way to save a lot of money on line, but it takes a little bit of splicing work to do well.
