Lewmar Ocean Concept chain stripper needed!

The chain stripper on my Lewmar Ocean Concept vertical windlass broke last weekend and the chain now will not go down the pipe into the chain locker. The chain does not disengage from the gypsy but continues around and fouls. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement piece? That windlass is "not supported" anymore. Or, if not, a solution so that I can use the windlass to heave the anchor, other than my hands, which is getting very old!

Find a local SS workshop and ask them to copy the old stripper. Should not be the end of the world. It is a very simple piece of SS plate cut and bended on my Quick windlass.

Thanks, that is the solution. Unfortunately I do not have the remnants of the old stripper to use as a template.

Re: Lewmar Ocean Concept chain stripper needed!

The good news is: it is fixable The bad news is: you'll need to completely remove the windlass and bring it into any experienced Steel shop with a small piece of chain. They can fabricate a new stripper for you. It may a copy of the Manuel diagram with you as well.
this happened to my Tigres 1500 W and they did a great job. The replacement design is actually better that the original and it was not terribly expensive.,..or you can replace the windlass!

Thanks. That is probably what I will have to do. What a monumental pain in the neck. "For the want of a nail..."
