Chain Stripper - SL510 Hyspeed & Rode Connections

Hi all,

Firstly, I'm looking for a chain stripper for a SL510 Hyspeed Windlass. New from Lewmar, they're $95, which seems a bit steep. Does anyone know of a good source or have an extra sitting around they'd be willing to sell? 5/16 G30.

Next, I have two 60' lengths of 5/16" G30 that are in decent shape. One has about ten links on the end that I intend to cut off, then I'd like to connect them. I'll likely use one of the C connectors available.

The question is, what is the "correct" way to connect this chain to my 40lb CQR? Seems obvious, but the appropriate size shackle for the anchor does not fit through the chain. What is the preferred method?

Eventually I'd like to move this chain to my 2nd anchor (which is nearly all rode), and work off 200' of 5/16 G40.

All will be used aboard a 32' Westsail (20,000 lb disp. full keel).

Thank you for your time!
Aaron Norlund

Try
Simpson Lawrence Yacht parts and spares
A S/L spare parts specalist I'm told.

C Links - hunt around and find the Crosby ones. They have the crosby name on them. DON'T use any unbranded ones, some are spooky. The price differance will be bugger all, the performance differances could be HUGE.

Anchor chain connection -
2 shackles, a common way
Anchor connector (suss the 'Kong' website) West marine had them at one stage.
Search this forum, there has been quite a bit of chatting about this subject.

Happy hunting,
