how to install new outhaul and topping lift?

Time to replace some frayed lines. My first thought is to tape new line end to old and pull the new one through. Seems a little inelegant but I don't find another solution in the forums or catalogs. Is there a better way?

Better to stitch them together using sail thread or at least several turns of regular thread. There's nothing worse than having it come apart halfway through.
Take out the stitches when you're done feeding them through.

I replaced both last spring, stitched and and then taped. Worked great.

Stitching is the way to go. There are some really good YouTube videos showing how. The technique shown in this one starts 4 mins in.
