Continuous Wire Rigging - Thoughts?

Earlier in life I was an avid archery enthusiast we used to build our own bowstrings out of a continuous strand wrapped back and forth over a jig. Was wondering of the possibilities of building standing rigging in a similiar fashion. Could see a benefit from losing the swaged ends in favor of thimbles. Opinions and ideas appreciated.

I'd work

But it'd be expensive

Each length would be a 'special'.

Interesting.
How do you propose to secure the thimbles?

I would imagine securing thimbles could be done by "serving" with the same wire. (Thinking of bowstring again).

Seems possible. Not necessarily higher performance or lower cost. I don't understand the motivation!

Every failure of rigging ive seen involved the terminal ends. with this construction there would be much less chance of crevice corrosion or terminals splitting and the complete cable would be available for inspection. The cable everyone recommends replacing at 10 yrs is often shiny and clean, except for the terminal ends. may negate the need for automatic replacement.

Very interesting indeed! I think this is how the top spec PBO sort of rigging is laid.
