Running Propane Hose

i am installing a propane system to replace the existing CNG stove and tank. i have an overboard vented locker for the aluminum LP tank and wanted to seal the supply hose as it exits the locker. places like defender sell the vapor tight fittings but this would require the hose to be made up at the boat .. since the assembled hose flare fittings will not pass thru the vapor fitting. is it common to have a gas hose made onsite? or is there a better way to seal it at the bulkhead? thanks.

Consider a male/male bulhead fitting and use hoses tha are long enough to suit conditions. A little extra hose on either end is usually not much of a problem.

When I did my Propane system. I took the Vapor tight fittings to the industrial hose supply company that made up my hoses, they put them on the hoses then crimped on the end fittings.

There shouldn't be any connections between the propane cylinder cabinet and where the hose connects to the appliance. Call a propane appliance company like Xintex Fireboy-Xintex Marine Safety Equipment and ask them if their hoses will pass through the bulkhead seals and what they recommend.

Or do what pdxsailordiver did.

Are you sure? I wondered the same thing and the guy at West Marine disassembled one in the store to show me how it expands to allow the fitting to pass through then tightens down and seals everything. I used a pre-made hose with fittings from WM and the vapor fitting and it all worked as they said.
