It was in their brochure, mistakes like that make one question their technical expertise. I've been following this thread, interested in the concept of two stage cooling.

What do you mean two stage cooling , are you referring to a spill over system ?

High power when the engine is running, lower (<5 amps) when on batteries.
Many years ago, while jeeping down in Baja, we ran across some HVAC types who had converted an automotive AC unit to an ice cube maker for their afternoon margaritas.

I've had my DC Seafrost ref / frz system since 1998 and not one problem. I would seriously consider replacing the module. JMHO

While these add-ons to your basic refrigeration system will help add to more efficient use of available power. They are usually the first thing to fail in the marine environment. I have talked to many installers and they all note it is the first thing they take off . You can achieve almost the same thing with a simple speed switch mounted on a control panel away from the hidden areas where your compressor lives and do it manually .

Not sure what the original question was.
However for reference my box that I posted the picture for is 14 cu ft, and has the original not so good 30 yr old insulation.
What makes it cool so well is that it has a BD-80 compressor.
Your not going to Cool a big box well with a small compressor, unless it has some super good insulation, like a thermos bottle.
If you want DC electric, I think your going to need a BD-80 to be happy.
Of course seeing as how there is no free lunch, that big boy compressor is going to pull more amps than it’s little brothers, but it’s not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, I’d guess I use 100 AH in a 24 hour day with the big, poorly insulated box, I am certain that good insulation would at least cut that number in half.

You're on the right track. The original question was looking for a recommendation for a high-capacity holding plate system. I would much prefer to draw big amperage for a shorter time than have a little unit run all day long.

So, that's what I'm trying to get at-to see if anybody has a recommendation for this kind of system. The BD-80 is in the right direction.

Either coupled to twin eutectic stainless steel plates model P53-35-6. The cost would be $2231.70 plus courier estimate of $252.00. (Note: *Secop BD80 is only 3.0cc, BD50 is 2.5cc and BD35 is...too small, forget it! )

Thanks, Pete-sounds like a good deal. I'll keep it in mind. I'm still pretty convinced that I want to get away from 134a, though. My previous system achieved plate temps of -30F quite easily. I'm really looking to replicate this performance.

Really, the whole idea, as you understand, is to get the box super cold when there's extra power. Keeping the plates at -30 while motoring yields some seriously cold temps in the box. I routinely saw box temps of -7 or -8F after a few hours of motoring. The thing wouldn't run for 24 hours after that, meaning that my effective AH use was zero for the freezer for that day.

It's also possible that to get to this level of performance again will be too expensive. In this proves to be the case, you'll be the first guy I call.
