3 position sea cock?

Hi both my sea cocks that serve my toilet have an open, closed and flood the boat through a hole position, should there be a grease nipple or a plug in the open holes?
Thanks Martin

What kind of seacock? Some of them I've encountered have little drain plugs for winterizing, so yours could just be missing that. Do you have a picture?

Interesting. I haven't encountered that style of seacock before, but it sure looks to me like a hole for a winterizing drain plug or a grease fitting. I'd be inclined to put a plug in there, preferably bronze (not brass), and call it good.

That appears to be a Blakes and Taylor thru hull. You might want to check out:

Re: 3 position sea cock?

Hi and thanks, that is similar but mine doesn't have the machined flat face for the nipple to sit in, it's just a hole in the main body.

They changed over the years so that is just the most modern drawing.

Also, I'm sure you know, but for fwiw, those look like it is time to change.

My comment also but was afraid of speaking out of school. That looks similar to ones that I''ve had snap trying to remove from being crystalline.

Re: 3 position sea cock?

Please go to Marine How To web pages on seacocks and put in Groco adaptor plates & ball valves. They’ll show you how to do it right. I’m pulling out ALL the plastic / Marelon junk valves which was a huge mistake
Reinforced rubber hose and 316 solid band clamps not white stuff for anything that could sink you.
Blake’s are good but it’s time to replace them..they have been there a while.
Sorry I don’t know how to add a link.
Too busy today.
