Md11C shaft flange bolts

I have a 1976 Cheoy Lee with MD11C Volvo penta engine. The prop shaft flange bolts appear to be hex head. 8 is too small 9 is too big. SAE don't fit either. Of course I am doing all of this laying across top of engine. Think I might just pull engine and shaft together if I can't find correct size tool. All ideas appreciated

Re: Md11C shaft flange bolts

Fellow down the dock fought this exact problem a year or two ago......He ended up cutting the heads of the bolts off with a die grinder.

MD7 here. I had to take the bolts off once, can't recall the size but it required a LOT of elbow grease.

The second time the isolators went, not that many years later, I had a mechanic do it. He ended up using a grinder.

You could possibly file the edges down on the 9' but first check to see if those bolts are really hex or Allen heads, and not splined volvos used those bolts at times, and they may have been replaced by a previous owner.
It's an easy mistake to make.
