I believe it is a 1939 Hacker-Craft. Featured in this month's BoatU.S. magazine.

That is one awesome looking beast!! Talk about living in the Buck Rogers, Art Deco realm!! Nice find and I would love to see that thing in person and perhaps have a sea trial!!

Jackpot Sighting

Spotted in our marina. Jackpot which is a Glen-L Union Jack in ally.

Very nice little boat. The aluminum is extremely practical and you'd never know she's 9 yrs old. Full time livaboard too!

Re: Thunderbird!

There is lots to be said about the THUNDERBIRD, which is a 55 foot express speedboat designed by John Hacker and built by Huckins in 1939 for Captain George Whittell, a reclusive millionaire who owned most of Tahoe's east shore at the time.

Re: Warning! Boat Porn!

24' Storebro Solo Ruff - built in Sweden in 1950's and 60's.
Single Petrol engine on a shaft. Think it cruised at about 12 knots - good for a few more.

I still have that red hat somewhere..........

Sister Ship.

The New Owner cut the deck out to the Navigation Mast, removed the windscreen - and added a wheelhouse that (litterally) looked like a garden shed . Of course he also painted her

Later he re-engined her from Petrol (planing speed) to a displacement Diesel......

Broke me Father's heart

Last I saw of her was ashore - awaiting chopping up
