Trans Off 4-71 Detroit D - Help

This is how it's done in older transmissions:

It's the splines in the drive plate that are stuck. They get worn and shift ever so slightly so that you may never get it apart in the right way. In the end you may need to tear stuff up, like the complete spring hub in the middle of the drive plate will need to be destroyed by using wedges to force the trans out.

Thank you everyone for your support and advise , i finally got the box off the 4-71 with a couple of power packs ,and found a large drive plate on the trans, looks like a spoke gear with rubber wear caps that fit into the spoke ring that is bolted into the fly wheel , and i am very happy that i never broke anything , Thank you everyone

Hmmm.. First of all you do not need to pull any of the housings to pull the cam. Remove covers front and back of engine, remove the cam nuts and make a puller that will bolt to cam gear and push on cam shaft. Then just push it out the fron of the engine.
