South Florida surveyor needed

I am not sure if I am posting this in the correct spot.

I am looking for recommendations for a surveyor in the Tampa, FL, area to survey a 55 foot power boat with Caterpillar C-12 motors. The boat is located in Fort Myers.

I am considering hiring a separate surveyor for the engines since some of the C-12 motors appeared to have had aftercooler problems.

Although it has been some time, we had very good service from:

Henry is extremely experienced and yet reasonable. He has given us good service and great advice in the past.

Henry Pickersgill

We were in Tampa and Henry was, of all places, in Brooksville at the time. He has since moved to the east coast but travels to the Gulf side of FL for surveys on a regular basis.

I can second the recommendation of Steve Berlin in Ft Myers. I also highly recommend Jon Marquette of Jon Diesel LLC (941-780-1330) as engine/mechanical surveyor.

Re: South Florida surveyor needed

send mje the 1000 bucks and ask a good mechanic to give you an offer for service and some overhaul. Ask a rigger what has to be replaced ans find an electrician.

I think you will be sround 300 $ and when you write down carefully what they say you will have the best report of all.

Re: South Florida surveyor needed

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Based on recommendations here and outside sources, I ended up hiring Steve Berlin and Dan Mattos. We are scheduled for survey in early August.

Based on the survey (engine survey) I passed on the boat. It might be ok for another buyer, but it was not for me.

(To those who answered previously, Steve Berlin and Dan Mattos were great to work with.)

That being said, I have found a new boat and am seeking a Cummins surveyor to look at the 6BTA5.9M3 motors in the Fort Lauderdale area.

I found a great Cummins surveyor and a great general surveyor - both out of Jacksonville.
PM me if you would like their contact information.
