Re: Oily discharge in generator exhaust

If oil is high enough to splash (foam)lube the cylinder walls, the oil control rings are overwhelmed and excess is being expelled out the exhaust .This must be close to a full runaway due to oll coming in the breather .Suck a little oil out before something nasty happens.

Re: Oily discharge in generator exhaust

wasn't there a Practical Sailor article where they used ATF in a home-brew "PB Blaster" solvent?

I know ATF mixed about half and half with Acetone is very effective according to practical machinist.

Re: Oily discharge in generator exhaust

I think ATF is just good oil with a high detergent. Don't know it's sae wt . Used to add some STP additive to the auto tranny to swell up the leaky gaskets.
