Motoring around the world, East or West?

If you were going to motor around the world, would you go east or west?

Seriously, every litre counts and why beat to windward/against the current unless you are doing a re-enactment of "The Perfect Storm"?

Trade winds are always east to west. Pick your route to take advantage of favorable currents to the extent possible.

For me personally....if I were going to motor....it would be on a cruise line....I wouldn't really care which direction we went in......but that's just me.

If you intend to circumnavigate in a motor boat , I suggest a little more initial knowledge might be needed !!!!

If you are going to motor, the water will be smoothest along the equator in the doldrums. I would do it on the edge of the tradewinds going with the currents and I would have a large square sail on a short mast to help move things along downwind.
