Facing losing boat

Facing having to let boat go.
I’m sure I’m not alone in this and perhaps others have faced the same delema and have possible solutions.
I sailed my lovely 36 footer across the Atlantic a few years ago and am now enjoying a few months each winter cruising the islands.
Have had a heart attack- not too bad, and fixed with stents-and a couple of other health threats.
Also with the financial disaster that Ireland is these days my reserves are dwindling and will run out in a few years.
So the inevitable is that the boat has to either be sold, very hard to do these days, or shared with a like minded yachtie that can contribute towards the cost of keeping her in the Caribbean, or as so often seen a lovely boat will end up being just left to become a derelict in the back of the yard.
My children are at the other side of the world so it would only be a burden to them.
Any ideas would be appreciated as I want to keep sailing as long as possible but the finances, or worse, will call a halt.

Sell the boat and use the proceeds to stretch your resources, and keep sailing as long as you are able by volunteering to crew on others boats?

If you are Ireland based, then bring the boat to the Med.
Its much closer and more manageable.

Flights from home to Spain, for example, can be 50 quid. Marinas for 5k or less a year.

Cut yer cloth accordingly.

A lot have to do this and it worked for them.

Perhaps sell and buy a much smaller boat such as a Hobie Adventure Island sail trimaran. It's all the fun of daysailing with few to no ongoing costs. Can be trailered by any vehicle, kept in the yard, and floats on and off its trailer in minutes with no real effort.

Hard decision. I have been told that you can keep a boat in Greece hauled and stored for Euro 1200 a year. Might be hard to get your boat there.

Beyond that I know of lots of people who are looking for crew so sailing someone else's boat is an option.

Most of us wrinkly cruisers have some health problems we have to cope with. You've had a tough wakeup call, but if you follow through with your physiotherapy, you're going to feel quite well, and soonish (not as fast as you want: that's just how it is).

Maybe weavis' proposed solution would work for you, or Zeehag's. Maybe there are those among your friends that you already know, someone who could help with a delivery (if that's your decision) or to partner with you in the Carib, which you seem to prefer.

The decision to part with the boat is a hard one; and we all come to it some time. We have a friend who bought a small trimaran, and figures he'll be able to sail it into his 80's, but he lives here in Queensland, where it is warm, and he can use it a lot, not in chilly, rainy Ireland.
