Re: MacWester 26 and the 'hina-ous' Crew

Truly a great thread, Alex. Well done.

Methinks the true honeypot and babe magnet is the newly purchased Prout Snowgoose. With a boat like that to love, who really needs babes? Ahem ...

I am iridiscent green with envy!

Best wishes

That's mighty neighbourly of you, GordMay. How nice to see there are others out there in this dog-eat-dog world who still believe in courtesy. Thank you!

Incidentally, your avatar is the spitting image of what I see in my bathroom mirror every morning. Love it!

Re: MacWester 26 and the 'hina-ous' Crew

new boots and panties for hina!

just dried out and painted the topsides, and gave the bottom a coat of antifouling.

with much help from RAFIKI,a cf member who is buying a half share in the boat.

took Hina offshore for the first time in big waves!

she sails beautifully, and motors under power at 6 knots!
she sails to windward under double reefed main and #3 genoa into f5-6 with no trouble at all, very impressed with the seawortyness of the boat, very stable!

hove too for a bit whilst the strongest winds went through and were able to make cups of tea without spilling a drop, after a beat to windward picked up a mooring in st maws, and went ashore for a very expensive beer.

winds lighter in the afternoon as we tacked into falmouth roads were,...
i saw another fixer upper as well on the dock........but needs a mast fitting............... should i make an offer
(Mirabella v)..........

Re: MacWester 26 and the 'hina-ous' Crew

Why does Mirabella need a new mast? it was only launched about 5 years ago. No you can't buy it, you have enough projects on the go.

Hina looking good

they just went in for a refit at pendennis, and added 4 meters to the stern,so as to remain the longest sloop in the world!
the mast i belive was resprayed, and rigging up dated

i'm seriously thinking of buying it......if the price is right....as i could fit davits on it for all my other boats.......and still be in the caribbean by christmas

She is located South East England, so please only reply if you are willing to take on this project.

More details can be found in my blog (link in my sig) under the header "Decisions decisions decisions"

My missus has decided that we cant afford the mooring fees for her so "we" have decided that she could find a better home from someone on here.

No timewasters please as she will be lost within 1 week.

If only i had known..
I had been looking for a macwester 26 for quite a while.as a project boat.
Shame as I am only a few hours away from you and you could have had a bit more use from it.
Sorry you had to let it go..
I have managed to find one now and near on have it completed and ready to put to sea.

Re: MacWester 26 and the 'hina-ous' Crew

Can't tell how it will run yet But I know the engine is as good as new and very little used.

When I get it in the water I will I dare say be posting the results.

mine has the 15 hp 2cyl z600 kubota, 1.8:1 hurth box and 12x10 prop which pushes her along nicely,so should fly with a 20 hp and bigger prop.

infact i have a 14x 9 that might suit in the workshop if you have a 2:1 box.
